I was born and raised in the Catholic Church but did not stay there. After graduation from
Catholic school I went to a public high school and forgot about the church.
Around 1996-97 I once again became interested in God. I was waiting for service to be done on
our van and started to read an article in Time Magazine about the book series "Left Behind". The article
awakened something inside of me and I quickly got a hold of the first book in the left behind series and
burned through it in about 3 days. I quickly read the entire series as each new book was released.
The "Left Behind" series of books ignited something deep within myself. This lead to reading
the book the series was all based on, the Bible.
Now I have many Bibles, of different translations and some great Bible study tools for the
computer.
I do not follow the Catholic Church, I am a Christian plain and simple. Let's just say my past
experience with the Catholic Church was less than stellar. In the specific Church I grew up in it seemed that
they were more interested in making money, rather than preaching the word of God. I do not know if all
Catholic Churches are like that but the one I attended as a young man was.
I firmly believe in God our Father and His Son my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I believe
Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of all our sins and rose from the dead in the resurrection. There
is no way to the Father except through His Son Jesus.
Favorite Bible verse: 1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the Cross is foolishness
to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
I believe that verse with all my heart.
So I am a Christian, I am going to assume that you now believe that I am either a homophobe or
that I hate homosexuals. Well you would be wrong. I do not "hate" homosexuals, but I do
hate the sin of homosexuality. You may not be able to separate the two, but I can and do. My philosophy is
simple, condemn the sin not the person committing the sin, as there is always forgiveness. It is well above
my pay grade to judge any man or women.
Now that being said I cannot support the sin of homosexuality either, so yes that makes me
very much against Gay marriage, as marriage is between a man and a women, they come together to be
one.
Am I perfect in my faith? No, I do not think any man or women can be perfect,
there was only one perfect man born to this world and that man was Jesus Christ. It is our nature, we were
all born sinners and will die that way. But Jesus died for our sins, and through HIM we can all be forgiven
and be granted eternal life in our Fathers Kingdom.
